Luxury Italian shipyard Rossinavi have launched a breakthrough design category, Yacht Design for Millennials. First in the world to consider this demographic, the concept is in part thanks to new research by the International University of Monaco (IUM) which provides compelling evidence for appealing to this market segment.
Research shows that the median age of superyacht owners is set to shift from 45-55 to 35-45 in the next twenty years. As reported by Yachting International, one of the primary reasons for the yachting sector to fare so well is that the population of Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals continues to grow. Worldwide, there are an estimated 82,000 people with a combined fortune exceeding 50 million Euro. Among them are an estimated 1,226 billionaires, with a remarkable 20 percent of the top 100 billionaires being under the age of 50. Recent studies also show that yacht owners are getting younger; on average owners are 10 to 15 years younger than two decades ago.
A highly reputable shipyard with an experienced team, Rossinavi is uniquely positioned to design yachts for Millennials. As a young brand that works with young designers, Rossinavi has set its sights on harnessing future markets trends. Rossinavi COO Federico Rossi, along with Rossinavi’s specialist yacht designers, presented models, sketches and drawings of three new yachts – Attitude, Project I-Tron and ‘Mark 48’.
Attitude is a completely new concept in yacht design and construction, with a striking exterior shape that allows for powerful, efficient movement on the water and an elegant appearance sailing or at standstill. Attitude has been designed with environmental considerations in mind- the shape of the yacht is such that Attitude sits primarily above sea level, allowing for shallow cruising, less resistance on the water and ultimately less fuel exhaust and waste.
The design of Attitude allows persons to move seamlessly from land to sea, and to experience a true feeling of ease and luxury typical of an Italian villa. As described by architect Carlo Colombo: “Made of unobstructed views of the surrounding, not any more relegated to small shaped windows, the layout was developed with spacious and functional areas that propose a true feeling of space and comfort. “
Every detail of the 53m vessel has been carefully considered with an elegant sobriety, matching the taste of the most demanding clientele, from the glass sided owner’s cabin to the wraparound aluminium spoiler, inspired by the styling of high-performance sports cars. One of the most striking features of Attitude is its semi-submerged beach club, which includes a teak-finished sunbathing area in front of a submerged swim platform.
The concept of Project I-Tron is a result of the vision of exterior superyacht designer Chulhun Park (South Korea) and interior designer Francesca Romana Treleani (Italy). This exceptional 42m vessel has the characteristics of a sports yacht and is ideally suited to those with a sense of adventure. Park, who is also mindful of the environmental factors, has incorporated forward thinking features into the design of Project I-Tron, including a sleek, light-weight hull and fuel efficient tanks. A signature of Park’s design aesthetic, Project I –Tron has a vivid blue curve line extending from the bridge of the yacht to the bow.
The interior design of the Project I-Tron incorporates futuristic elements and light. Treleani has included reflective accents, curved edges, illuminating materials and surfaces, and cut outs on the ceiling and bulkheads to create a futuristic and bright interior. The colour palette of Project I-Tron is white with blue accents that recall the exterior curve detail of the yacht. The master cabin is positioned at the front of the boat, and features a private glass veranda and balcony, allowing persons to simultaneously enjoy the interior and exterior surroundings. Of note is Project I-Tron’s beach club which has a fantastic private pool with glass bottom, providing stunning underwater views.
Working closely with Rossinavi, American designers J. David Weiss Designova has developed ‘Mark 48’, an exciting new concept and the future of super yachting. As the project develops, designer J. David Weiss will expand the features of this powerful yacht beyond any vessel available on the market today through research and exploration. Weiss will also be in discussion with groups building new technologies so that he will be the first to bring new technological experiences to millennial owners, all with a mind to sustainability. The attitude and appetite for adventure of this new yacht owner will also mean they seek more adrenaline-fuelled experiences, both on board and in terms of crossing capability. It will mean that more features allow for experiencing the outdoors in more high-energy ways that will be appreciated by those that love adventure sports and life on the edge of possibility.
The Rossinavi brand was founded in 2007 upon the legacy of expert welders Fratelli Rossi (Rossi Brothers) who had established a reputation for high-quality metal construction of fishing boat hulls from 1980. This expertise has allowed Rossinavi to maintain a level of quality that sees each ship crafted entirely in-house, at their shipyard in Viareggio. Today, after launching several luxury yachts from 40-70 metres in length, and with several in production, the Rossinavi shipyard enjoys growing recognition for its rapid ascent into the market and its ongoing position as the only family-owned-and-operated superyacht company in Italy.
