Spring is the perfect time to refresh your interior space and bring some of the hottest trends home. This year the spring styles are marrying the popular urban look we have grown to love with a natural botanical vibe that works surprisingly well. Color palettes are always bright in spring, and this year we see plenty of strong hues all pared against neutral backgrounds to give them extra pop. The LuxPad looks at how to embrace spring style throughout your interior in 2016…
Sometimes less is more, and this spring we have seen a lot of neutral pared back styles becoming increasingly popular. Update an already neutral background with fresh botanicals to give it a spring-time spruce; just a couple of well-placed plants can really enliven any space. In a pared back palette texture is key, look to natural textures such as wood and wicker to add interest to your interior whilst keeping the ambience calm and minimalistic.
The urban / industrial interior trend is one that isn’t going away any time soon, and this season we are seeing it being used to add an edge to softer schemes. Introduce elements from this look into a neutral space. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a naturally occurring exposed brick wall there are plenty of great replica wallpapers available that can work wonders on adding another dimension to your space. A great way to add industrial style detailing is through additional lighting, look to exposed filament bulbs to give the instant urban edge. Shades of grey and warm woods will also complement this style.
Every spring we see a new round of pastels being peddled for interiors, and with Pantone choosing two pastel shades for its Colors of the Year, 2016 is no different. Pastels do feature in spring’s top on-trend hues, but they have been given an update. Combine these soft, powdery tones with bold and bright shades to create the ultimate color pop. Perfect set against a white or neutral background, think a bright yellow chair with pastel soft furnishings in the bedroom, or add color pop shelving to a white wall and bring pastels into the space with decorative accessories. Soft textures, such as velvet, will work well with the softer hues and help to create a depth.
No spring time interior update would be complete without adding a little pattern, and this year it’s all about the clash! One of the easiest ways to bring pattern into your space is with a bold and beautiful rug. Whether you are restyling a large space or a smaller room, a well-placed rug can be the perfect finishing touch and a great way to add pattern without overpowering the entire interior. For added pattern look to soft furnishings, layering cushions and throws on a sofa or bed in clashing patterns is a great way to quickly refresh your space.
