Located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro, Hotel Fasano is the perfect setting for a tropical Christmas getaway. Found on Avenida Viera Souto, in the heart of Ipanema beach, the second hotel in the Fasano group combines the sophistication of Rio’s most coveted address with modernity and efficiency in design and service.
The hotel is the first project designed entirely from scratch by one of the world’s greatest designers, Philippe Starck. Using the glorious Bossa Nova era as a driving influence, everything from the ’50s and ’60s style furniture to the vintage uniforms designed exclusively for the hotel, has been thought out to reverberate time when Ipanema was blossoming into the most charming neighbourhood of Rio.
Along with offering the latest in technology and service, Hotel Fasano also gives guests the chance to experience its famous Fasano’s gastronomic legacy at the elegant Fasano Al Mare restaurant. The rooftop pool area provides the perfect spot for enjoying signature cocktails and the breath-taking view which overlooks the beach, Two Brothers Mountain, Arpoador and even the Corcovado.
Envisioned by Philippe Starck and by Rogerio Fasano, this beautiful hotel is a maze of architectural wonder. Warm earthy tones come together in a variety of materials from all over the world; white marble from Greece, Chinese yellow onyx, 19th century red brick from Argentina, and ironwood from northern Brazil. A 6-ton certified pekia tree trunk greets guests on arrival, as it serves as the striking front desk.
There is a steam room, fitness center and pool bar to be enjoyed throughout the hotel. Along with the stunning views, guests can also feast their eyes on many of the decorative features. There is a wall adorned with a montage of Philippe Starck’s quirky ear-shaped mirrors, suitably nicknamed ‘ears that see’, which reflect the beautiful blue hues of the ocean, infinity pool and sky.
Ranked by Wallpaper magazine* as the number one hotel bar in the world, Baretto–Londra is the ‘Carioca’ version of the celebrated bar in Hotel Fasano Sao Paulo. Guests can enjoy the expertly crafted cocktails and a selection of light dishes. Honouring the city of London, Rogerio Fasno’s favorite metropolis, Londra is the city’s Italian name. Two large British flags, colored with the red, green and white colors of Italy, are prominently displayed, alongside framed vinyl record covers, hand-picked by Rogerio Fasano from his personal music collection, to decorate the walls.
The culinary tradition of the Fasano family finds a home in Rio de Janeiro at Fasano Al Mare, harmonising perfectly with the marvellous city. Lead by restaurateur Rogerio Fasano, the kitchen is run by chef Paolo Lavezzini, who joined the Fasano team from the Michelin three-star Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence.
The refined menu features the diverse aspects of Mediterranean cuisine, with a special focus on seafood. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the main dining area as well as the inviting terrace. Designed by Philippe Starck to offer beautiful views of the sidewalks of Ipanema, the restaurant also has a private dining area, concealed by white linen curtains, a Starck signature. Scandinavian tables are arranged under a splendid Murano chandelier.
A great location to enjoy the festive period in a tropical and relaxing setting, Hotel Fasano takes booking all throughout the Christmas holiday season. For more information and to book a stay head to the Fasano website.
