The term travelling in style has been taken to new heights thanks to the Airbus Corporate Jet Centre’s (ACJC) Art-Deco inspired custom cabin. Designed to evoke the ambience of a luxury train travelling to Asia, the ACJC have created the interior feat for one of their largest clients in the Far-East. Art-Deco design has long been synonymous with luxury style and ACJC have built upon this reputation, by utilising space in a way never before seen aboard an Airbus Corporate Jet. This ground-breaking interior sets a new level in cabin innovation thanks to its atypical layout and daring decorative material.
Creative Design Studio Head Sylvain Mariat explains the thinking behind the ACJ319 VVIP cabin design; “Our customer required the most complex interior, in terms of ergonomics and kinematics, that we have ever designed. To welcome his guests in the way that he wanted, we created five full-height individual private areas, including a private office, with ingenious storage spaces and hi-tech personal devices. As far as I know, this is the first Airbus corporate jet with full-height private mini-suites that required their own specific certification.”
To balance these individual areas, the ACJC Creative Design Studio designed a wide and light main lounge, with an innovative parlour area for two passengers. “Our customer wanted a zone of intimacy in this vast entourage area, so we conceived a compartment based on mid-height partitions, with a sliding door. It gives the feeling of sitting in an historic train travelling towards Asia,” Mariat explains.
With certification to carry up to 19 passengers the innovative interior features five individual mini suites. Features of the luxury cabin also include a crew-rest area, a cinema for two passengers, private office space, and a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Each of these areas include innovative modular design features, such as the two seater sofa in the master bedroom which is convertible into a low table with two VIP seats. There are also two cocktail bars cleverly hidden behind mirrors, revealed when required by the simple push of a button.
The vintage-train inspired cabin features a beautifully elegant brown and cream colour palette which creates a sense of space and elegance. Gold coloured details add to the ambience and give a nod to the retro inspirations. The vintage stylings are paired with the latest in technology and cabin controls, such as the 15 ‘fully flat’ seats which are electrically activated and controlled from a digital tablet. The ACJ319 cabin is 78 feet long by 12 feet wide, and the jet can travel up to 6,900 miles non-stop, at speeds up to about 540mph.
Based in France, ACJC has successfully completed more than 30 VIP cabins for Airbus corporate jets worldwide. Their range of expertise includes VIP cabin completions and comprehensive maintenance services, as well as high-end cabin upgrade solutions.
