A national treasure, Claridge’s Hotel is perfectly positioned in Mayfair amongst the most stylish of postcodes in London where it has stood since 1854. Over the last 160 years, the historical hotel has entertained royalty and celebrities from across the globe and this Christmas, you too can experience the magic of Claridge’s in all its glory with their 2015 festivities. This year Claridge’s are offering an exclusive two night stay over the Christmas period where guests arrive on Christmas Eve ready to begin the festive celebrations.
Upon arrival guests will be taken to their room or suite for the duration of their stay where they will find a bottle of champagne and festive treats baked fresh that day by the hotel’s pastry chefs. At 6:30pm on Christmas Eve everyone is invited to a special reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ which will take place near Claridge’s famous Christmas Tree. At this time the children are invited to place mince pies and carrots on the mantelpiece in participation of Santa and his reindeer. When Christmas morning arrives, the whole hotel will wake up to sweet choir singing and stockings for both children and adults. Christmas morning is to be filled with horse drawn carriage rides around Mayfair accompanied with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Guests will be able to choose where their sumptuous Christmas dinner created by Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan will be served, whether in his Fera at Claridge’s restaurant or the exquisitely decorated French Salon and adjoining dining room. After a night sleeping off the last two days festivities, guests will wake refreshed on Boxing Day morning where they will be treated to a perfectly-cooked breakfast before they head back to their homes to join reality again after their magical stay.
The main attraction of Christmas at Claridge’s which delights and intrigues not only guests but visitors & Londoners who make a point of seeing the festive landmark each year is the Claridge’s Christmas Tree. A long standing tradition at the hotel, this is the sixth year a favourite guest has been asked to reinterpret the tree in their own signature style and in 2015 the task fell to Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer. Unveiled on Monday 16th November, the tree comprises over 100 umbrellas finished in bespoke gold and silver fabric, with a lighting system which picks up movement bringing thousands of twinkling lights to life to create a magical spectacle. Thomas Kochs, Claridge’s General Manager had this to say on the tree:
‘Christmas has always been a truly special time of year at Claridge’s and we are delighted to welcome Christopher Bailey to add the enchanting Christmas magic and creativity of Burberry to our lobby. We are particularly proud to be flying the British flag this year with London being at the heart of both Claridge’s and Burberry, and it is this shared sense of heritage and the key part we both play in London life that makes Christopher’s collaboration with us so special. The Claridge’s Christmas Tree has long symbolized the start of the festive season in the capital and we hope our annual tradition will continue to be a part of our guests’ memories as they become part of ours.’
