At 1800m above sea level in St Christophe, Austria lies Arlberg 1800, a luxury five star skiing destination with a difference. A cultural wonderland in the Tyrolean alps, it not only offers 260km of perfectly prepared pistes, but a selection of exceptional accommodation, an acclaimed art gallery, numerous restaurants and in 2015 they also opened the Arlberg Kunsthalle – the highest exhibition and music space of its kind.
Nothing says traditional Christmas more than a winter break spent surrounded by snowy mountains and timber clad houses, and Arlberg 1800 at this time of year is the best of the best. A haven for winter sports enthusiasts, the 260km of pisted ski slopes are accompanied by 180km of fresh off-piste runs and boarding slopes for all abilities and the ‘Children’s World’ ski school ensures the little ones are well cared for whilst learning the sport themselves.
The ‘Little Hospiz’ children’s programme has been designed to allow adults to get the most out of their holiday too, with staff on hand for pickups after ski school and they will also keep children entertained until dinner for parents to enjoy an après-ski. For those guests staying over the Christmas period the traditional festive celebrations begin on Christmas Eve, when a hearty Christmas dinner is served in the exquisitely decorated Hospiz Alm Restaurant. The festive meal allows guests access to the resort’s Brotherhood’s wine cellar, a 600 year old underground cavern housing a world famous collection of Bordeaux & Burgundy wines.
On Christmas Day guests can enjoy the fresh pistes of the Alps, or experience a cosy Christmas within the resort. Also on offer throughout the Christmas period is a wide range of local activities to experience the classic Alpine destination including Christmas markets in neighbouring Lech just ten minutes away with classic Tyrolean food and drinks, local choirs and marshmallow toasting around a campfire.
A Christmas break at Arlberg 1800 includes a stay in one of the resort’s luxurious accommodations from the Alberg Hospiz Hotel to the intimate Skyfall chalet suites. Each break is inclusive of breakfast, Christmas dinner at the Hospiz Alm Restaurant, Christmas Mass, admission to the art exhibitions installed at the time, up to four concerts at the Kunsthalle, use of the spa and daily care in the Kid’s Club.
