Located in the heart of Shoreditch, Boundary is the first project from Prescott & Conran Limited. Three restaurants, two bars and 12 elegant and contemporary guest rooms can be found within the new-format building. Each of the guest rooms have been inspired by an iconic designer or design movement, including legends Le Corbusier and Eames, to ground-breaking movements Shaker and Bauhaus. Also included in the impressive room options are the five individually designed suites, including four loft duplexes, each one with its own outdoor terrace.
One of the most popular rooms is the Eames themed, inside of which guests can find many details associated with the famous design duo. According to Prescott & Conran it was one of the easiest rooms to do, thanks to the vast material to draw from. A reproduction of the graphic images of their famous House of Cards can be found on the bedhead, and the side board, built in wardrobe and bath tiles all reflect the pressed plywood panels in their storage system.
The iconic Lounge chair and ottoman in white leather and walnut can also be found inside the room. The RAR rocking chair and the classic Aluminium group office chair and the charming little LTR wire frame occasional table are included in this special room, and to demonstrate the Eames easy and humorous charm the Hang-It-All coat rack with coloured balls. ‘We have also used an Anglepoise Type 3 Lamp on the desk which I’m sure Eames would have been proud to have designed. It is a real Eames room in Shoreditch rather than California’ Prescott & Conran.
As well as the wonderfully unique guest rooms, the Boundary offers three superb restaurants. The main one serves classic and timeless French cuisine, whilst the more casual rooftop area offers a seasonal menu that changes twice annually, and attracts visitors all year round to enjoy panoramic views over East London. The Boundary Rooftop is open every day from 10am, taking reservations for elevenses through to lunch, dinner and evening cocktails – all year round.
Boundary hotel guests enjoy priority access to the rooftop area, however those that are not staying at the hotel will soon be able to make bookings that include both a relaxed evening drink on the rooftop, followed by dinner in the sophisticated downstairs restaurant. Once the rooftop closes at 11pm, guests are welcomed to continue the fun downstairs at the hotel bar, where they can enjoy late night cocktails until 1am. This year for the ultimate summer thirst quencher, Boundary Rooftop will also launch an exclusive range of gin and tonic cups, made from six hand-picked boutique gins including Boundary’s own-label Albion gin, as well as Hendricks, Bulldog, Junipero, Sacred and Bombay Sapphire, all matched with Fever Tree tonic.
Boundary’s Alpine-themed winter terrace runs from November to March each year and serves a warming menu of racelette, fondue and baked Vacherin Mont d’Or, with cheeses supplied by renowned cheesemongers, La Fromagerie, and a selection of hot cocktails. In April, their Provencal-style menu returns to the rooftop, offering more summery and Mediterranean sharing dishes and a coastal Mediterranean wine menu.
After working together for several years at Conran Restaurants, Terence Conran, Vicki Conran and Peter Prescott agreed to start a new joint venture and Prescott & Conran was founded back 2006. Since launching, the team have won many design, food and wine lists awards, plus the prestigious Hotelier of The Year Award in 2014.
