The Christmas Tree Fold
The Christmas Tree fold makes a real statement but is surprisingly easy to follow. This look works well with green napkins, but can be incorporated into any colour scheme. A charming addition to your festive table setting.
- Lay the napkin flat and fold it in half by taking the two lower corners and meeting them with the top corners.
- Fold in in half again by taking the two left hand side corners and meeting the right-hand side then rotate the napkin so you have diamond looking shape.
- Take the bottom corner and fold the first layer to meet the top of the shape. Repeat this with each layer so that all four corners are now folded.
- Turn it over and fold the left-hand side to meet the edge of the shape. Repeat this with the right-hand side. You should now be left with a smaller diamond shape.
- Turn it over ensuring the folded corners are facing downwards. Now fold each of the four layers up making sure you tuck the corner of each one underneath the layer above.
The Pocket Fold
Simple yet sophisticated. The Pocket Fold is perfect for traditional table settings. One of my go-to napkin folds, it is ideal for showcasing your special-occasion cutlery and can be used long after the Christmas tree is taken down.
- Lay the napkin flat and fold it in half by taking the two lower corners and meeting them with the top corners.
- Fold in in half again by taking the two left hand side corners and meeting the right-hand side.
- Take the top right-hand corner and fold it towards the lower left-hand corner then turn it over.
- Then take the left-hand side and fold it so that it lines up in the middle. Repeat this with the right-hand side then turn it over and place your flatware within the fold.
The Pendant Fold
Sitting prettily against a monochrome color palette, the Pendant Fold is ideal for contemporary Christmas settings. With its clean, modern lines, it can work just as well against bolder hues; play around with colors across flatware and tableware to create your own unique look.

- To create a pendant napkin fold, lay the napkin flat and fold it in half by taking the two lower corners and meeting them with the top corners.
- Fold in in half again by taking the right-hand side and folding it until it meets the middle. Repeat with the other side.
- Unfold so that it looks how it did in step one, but it now has guidelines. Take the top right-hand corner and fold down to meet the first line. Repeat with the lower right-hand corner. Do the same with the left-hand side.
- Now take the left-hand side corner and fold into the middle. Repeat with the right-hand side then turn over.
- Take the right-hand corner and fold into the middle. Repeat with the remaining corners so that you are left with a diamond shape then turn it over ensuring the two flaps are on the left and right side and place your flatware underneath each.
