Seven Gauge Studios
Seven Gauge Studios was created in 2010 by Joy Bates. Learning to hand knit at a young age, she went on to teach herself how to use a knitting machine.
She soon discovered she had a natural flair for pattern & colour, and quickly gained success selling her sweaters to independent retailers including Paul Smith.
Later she began designing fabric for international fashion houses including Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Calvin Klein and Nicole Fahri. Seven Gauge Studios is influenced by 20th century textiles and design, and now designs and manufactures knitted home accessories including cushions and hot water bottle covers.
Joy is committed to keeping her label’s manufacturing within the UK by using traditional techniques to achieve a contemporary product. The entire collection is designed and made by hand at her loft studios in England.
