René Lalique started his career in jewellery, and he quickly became the master of the Art nouveau jewel. He blended symbolism and naturalism, inspired by Japanese artists he remodelled long-abandoned techniques & materials, and in 1907 he discovered a passion for glass. The artist craftsmen became a manufacturer; he decorated the Orient Express, designed the fountains on the Rond Point des Champs Elysees, and gained international success for his work.
Today, Lalique creations are still manufactured in the Alsace area of France, renowned for its glassmaking. Each object is meticulously created by hand, from the initial gathering of the crystal to the final sculpting, passing through several artisans, all experts in their fields.
Controlling and refining transparency and reflection, Lalique continue to produce unique & beautiful designs, whilst remaining faithful to the creative spirit of René Lalique.
