Cole & Son
Cole & Son was founded by John Perry in Islington, north London. Throughout the 19th century they were renowned for producing high quality block prints & printed for all the large companies of the time including Jeffrey & Co, Sanderson & Shand Kydd. In 1941 the company was bought by A P Cole, proprietor of the company Cole & Son (Wallpapers) Ltd. The marriage of the two businesses meant Cole & Son owned the most significant collection of wooden printing blocks in Britain.
Today, their impressive collection of block & screen printed wallpapers represent styles from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. The Cole & Son archive includes some of the most important designs in the world which have been hung in historical houses such as Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster & the Houses of Parliament. Whilst remaining faithful to their distinguished history, Cole & Son continue to produce a range of innovative designs which have been adapted to suit the modern home.
