Easter Hosting Ideas
We love any excuse to host friends & family. And Easter is no exception. Blossom is blooming, the days are longer and (hopefully) the sun is shining. Whether you’re planning a small intimate gathering or full-blown family affair, hosting is no easy task. Don’t crack under the pressure. We’ve got you covered with our Easter hosting ideas so you can give loved ones a bank holiday weekend they won’t forget.
Pastel Perfection
It’s the season’s most sought-after colour trend and Easter is the perfect time to embrace it. So pick your favourite pastel colour and start splashing! Our favourite thing about these sweet-tooth shades is that they’re super complementing. So if you’re struggling to choose a favourite, just choose all of them! The perfect place to play with these colours is at your dining table, you set the table for Christmas so why not Easter?
Hop To It
Who doesn’t love decorating for special occasions? Find some bunny to love with a few rabbit decorations burrowed around your home. They’re the perfect way to subtly decorate your home, although if you’re keen to go all out you could always dress an Easter tree! There’s plenty of cuddly friends to choose from, from bunny motif cushions to sculptures and even furniture, you’ll probably find you keep them out year round.
Blooming Marvelous
No Easter celebration is complete without some fabulous blooms. Make sure you pop to your local florist or create a few arrangements of your own before your guests arrive. Flowers also make striking dinner table centrepieces, so if your table is big enough (and it’s not already filled with delicious food!) add some spring flowers. Psst. If you’re not sure which vase is best for displaying your favourite blooms, we’ve got a handy vase buying guide.
Make Kitchen Life Easier
When you’re hosting, anything that’s going to save you time or make life easier is heaven sent. Whether you’ll be roasting, grilling or baking your way to Easter lunch success, making sure your kitchen equipment is up to scratch is important. So take a long hard look at your pots, pans, tins & tools and if they’re looking a bit worse for wear and they burn more than they sear, it may be time to invest in new kitchenware.
Host an Easter Egg Hunt
It’s the perfect way the keep the young ones (and young at heart) busy. And keep them from under your feet whilst you’re busy in the kitchen or getting a few moments peace. So stock up on a variety of different sized and coloured eggs and get hiding! Get this done before your guests arrive and weather permitting try to get some in hidden the garden. Plant pots and behind bushes are great hiding places. It’s also a good idea to time your egg hunt carefully, you don’t want bunnies with full bellies sitting down to your Easter lunch!
Dye Your Eggs
Is there anything more Easter than egg decorating? This year it’s all about dying. The beauty of dying your eggs rather than painting them is the beautiful texture and (of course) the pastel shades. It’s super easy to do and fun, so get everyone involved. Get inventive with your decorating too!
What You Need
- Hard boiled eggs
- Newspaper
- A bowl or cup deep enough to completely submerge an egg
- Tongs
- Boiling water
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- Liquid food colouring (about 20 drops per colour)
What You Need To Do
- Hard boil your eggs and leave to cool
- Use newspaper to protect your work surface (you don’t want to stain your countertops!)
- Fill a cup or bowl deep enough to completely submerge an egg
- Add one teaspoon of white vinegar and about 20 drops of food colouring (the colour is up to you!)
- Tip: The more you add the darker the colour will be.
- Place your egg into the bowl and turn occasionally to ensure all sides are coloured. Keep your egg submerged for around 5 minutes. Again the longer you leave it in there the darker it will be!
- Carefully remove your egg using tongs or a slotted spoon and set aside to dry
