Take Back Tradition: The Victoria Christmas Trend
After a year like no other, we’re turning our attention to the festive season for a hint of normality. But what will Christmas look like this year? Top bloggers David and Mark of Forward Features have a hunch that this will be the year we take back tradition, so here they explore the Victorian Christmas trend and how to style the look fit for the Queen…
After a rollercoaster year of highs and lows, we’re certain that many households will be making Christmas as special as they can this year. We predict that after a year of uncertainty that there will be a resurgence of the traditional Victorian-style Christmas. Whether you’re able to host your usual festivities or you’re perhaps starting a brand-new yearly custom, traditions, old and new, will be cherished.
Classic Christmas Colours
Traditional colourways of red, green and gold will be coming back to the fold this season, along with classic motifs throughout the home. Big bushy trees will be adorned with baubles, faux festive branches and clip tree decorations. The A by AMARA collection includes tartan baubles along with robin & floral designs and these, along with garlands on mantles and dining tables, are perfect for creating that classic Christmas feel.
We also predict that as many of us adopt new traditions, investing in keepsake items will be a trend – from ornate baubles to nostalgic table centrepieces. Villeroy & Boch and Mackenzie-Childs at AMARA have a wonderful array of decorative objects with a feeling of Christmas past that can be cherished and passed down through the years. From Nutcracker snow globes and ornamental Santa sleighs, through to mechanical gingerbread musical boxes.
