Overshadowed by its reputation as a transport hub for London, Victoria is being reinvented in 2019 as a vibrant destination to live, eat, work and play. In the last decade, the area has seen substantial interest from developers, hospitality vendors and businesses alike. But it is the development of the former Edwardian Grade II listed Westminster Fire Station that is cementing Victoria as one of London’s most in-demand residential areas. We find out more…
Development manager Alchemi Group – in partnership with Far East Orchard Limited, a Singapore based property developer – has revealed they are working to restore the original Westminster Fire Station. Located on Greycoat Place, the original 1906 building will be transformed into a boutique development of 17 apartments.
Arranged across two buildings linked by a private residential courtyard, the Fire Station will house six of the apartments and a 5,349 sq. ft. destination restaurant, whilst the new build Station House will be home to a further 11 apartments.
“It was our vision to reinvent this historical London institution and return it back to the community – this time as a thriving destination to live, eat and play. By developing Westminster Fire Station we will extend the offering of Victoria as an exciting commercial and residential destination within prime Central London. Westminster Fire Station includes a beautiful heritage building that we hope will form a truly iconic development in the heart of Victoria.” – Charlie Baxter, Managing Director of Alchemi Group.
The district once famous for its workforce of civil servants and politicians is now the headquarters for companies such as Burberry, Jimmy Choo and John Lewis & Partners, as well as home to a number of Michelin starred chefs. This, combined with an influx of retail opportunities has resulted in a significant increase in demand for residential developments in the area.
2019 will see Victoria lose its reputation as just a transport hub, emerging as an exciting area for Londoners to work, play and live. Westminster Fire Station apartment prices will start at £850,000 & completion is set for summer 2019. For further information visit the Westminster Fire Station website.
