The internationally renowned hospitality business co-founded by Robert De Niro has created its first hotel in London with Nobu Hotel Shoreditch opening last weekend, July 1st. Located in the heart of London’s artistic quarter, this brand new hotel offers 143 rooms and seven suites, as well as an iconic dining experience at the new Nobu Shoreditch restaurant.
Dynamically blending Nobu’s signature east-meets-west philosophy with Shoreditch’s renowned creative and industrial energy, this hotel is set to be the new go-to of London’s hotel industry. Offering an exclusive spa and fitness area, Nobu Hotel Shoreditch also offers its guests the chance to take advantage of series of innovative culinary experiences, available in London’s newest Nobu restaurant, the lobby bar, meeting space and in-room dining.
Ron Arad Architects and Ben Adams Architects collaborated to create the expressive and distinctive design for Nobu Hotel Shoreditch. Overhanging floor slabs and cantilevered steel beams form a frayed edge to the east, where a landscaped garden is terraced to provide natural light to the restaurant space. The hotel’s interior has been created by local designers Studio Mica; all parties worked in collaboration to create a seamless transition between the hotel and the restaurant.
The stunning pocket garden will be open to the public, giving back to the local area Nobu Hotel Shoreditch has created the public space between the vibrant street and the calmness of the hotel to offer an oasis in the heart of East London.
Refined, relaxed sophistication exudes from each of the guest rooms, effortlessly linking timeless design with the contemporary functionality Nobu Hospitality is renowned for. Contrasting materials and finishes create interior interest; black joinery meets exposed concrete structures and soft textiles of the furniture, creating a style that is aesthetically beautifully and appeals to the sense of touch. The bright white bathrooms juxtapose this look, with walk-in rain showers and stunning custom-designed gold washbasins they exude effortless glamour.
Unique suites overlooking the courtyard and pocket garden from their own private balconies are also offered by Nobu Hotel Shoreditch. These dynamic spaces have been meticulously designed to embrace the property’s distinctive architecture with Japanese aesthetic subtleties. The exclusive Nobu Suite is the largest, featuring two private balconies with views across London’s skyline, a dining area, a lounge, and a bathtub.
Studio PCH have designed the 240-seat Nobu Shoreditch restaurant. Taking inspiration from the iconic Nobu aesthetics, the 340 metre-squared restaurant space’s sleek wooden finish creates a cool and contemporary environment. Nobu cuisine is famous around the world for its innovative interpretation of Japanese, Peruvian and other South American elements pioneered by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Executive Chef Greg Seregithe will oversee the Nobu Shoreditch menu, which features many of Nobu’s timeless dishes, such as Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, as well as plates inspired by the creativity and vibrancy of the local area.
Reached via a grand staircase, Nobu Shoreditch is bathed in natural light from the five-metre tall glass doors leading out to the charming Nobu Terrace. On the ground floor guests and the public can enjoy the Lobby Bar. Offering a comfortable atmosphere, a range of Nobu dishes and award-winning cocktails are available in this sophisticated retreat, the perfect place to socialise, relax or watch the world go by.
