The London Design Festival is only a couple of months away and we are already excited about all of the events that are set to take place-including the Moleskine exhibition. As part of the worldwide Moleskine Sketch Relay, several key London-based designers, including the extremely talented Ella Doran, have been invited to illustrate their responses to the designs that are special to them all through the medium of sketchbooks. Ella explains; “I love this project for its thought provoking interactivity between creatives, & its encouragement of the collective.”

The relay is part of a bigger idea, the Detour Project, which is a travelling exhibition that includes over 250 notebooks of artists, architects, writers, designers, film directors and thinkers, each revealing their processes in an archive of contemporary creative thinking. An exercise in personal story telling, the ethos behind the Detour project is in this digital age the blank pages of a notebook provide a limitless platform for creativity, allowing people to take leaps of the imagination and push boundaries.
The exhibition has already travelled to 9 cities in America, Europe and Asia so far displaying over 250 artworks, and involving new authors from each city. All the authors donate their notebooks to lettera27, a non profit foundation whose mission is to provide access to knowledge in developing countries.

Moleskine will also be holding a talk and sketch workshop at the V&A during the Festival. The Moleskine Sketch Relay is scheduled to take place the first weekend of the Festival 14th & 15TH September.
