Gien

Founded in 1821 by Englishman Thomas Hall, Faïencerie de Gien has since become an integral feature of French cultural heritage. Motivated by the desire to introduce fine earthenware or ‘faïence’ to France, Hall supplied over 2500 aristocratic families throughout Europe with bespoke dinner services over the 19th century. Despite now being a world-recognised brand, families still continue to reorder customised services adorned with their family crests or monograms.

With a factory on the banks of the Loire River in Gien, faïence products are partially handcrafted and treasured for their richness of colour and finesse in design. In keeping with the traditional practices of paper printing and hand painting, each Faïencerie de Gien china piece is finished to the highest quality. With authentic marks on the underside of flat pieces subject to firing, each Faïencerie de Gien is guaranteed to be unique and distinctive.

Faïencerie de Gien is continuously drawing on its traditional roots to create and add new designs or collaborations to its luxurious collection. More than 50,000 moulds can be found in the Gien factory and with four new table top and gift ranges released every year, the continuous and successful expansion of this luxurious earthenware brand is inevitable.
