When the new year approaches we are inundated with trend predictions for the months ahead. We made our own predictions too, with some sticking, but some yet to materialize. Now the dust has settled from the influx of predictions, we thought we’d take a look at those that will be here to stay for the year ahead. Take a look at the top interior design trends of 2019 with staying power…
1. We’re Yelling for Yellow
Pinterest predicted that yellow would be a big hit this year and we couldn’t agree more, yellow is everywhere. From mellow pastels to rich mustards, these hues have graced catwalks, high streets and homes for months now and there’s no sign of it slowing as we go into the next season. Perfect for colour pops rather than going all-out with the shade, it’s a fabulous non-committal hue to dip your toe into the vibrant colour pool to see how your feel before adding more.
2. Sustainability Swaps
3. Vamp it up with Velvet
Velvet has been back for a while now but we still can’t get enough of it. Tactile and durable with a hint of decadence, the texture will instantly turn a room from drab to fab. At its most vamp-like in deep tones, it brings a touch of gothic glamour to the home but it can be found in every colour imaginable to effortlessly blend with your interior. So this season why not try some pastel velvet accessories?

4. Scandi Simplicity
Is Scandi ever out of fashion? We don’t think so, so of course Scandinavian style is still a firm favourite this year. Fresh, elegant and undeniably timeless, you can never go wrong with touches of Scandi design in your interior. We love the look so much that it was even one of our key trends for our own collection at the start of this year. Abode is a cool and calm look for the home, with crisp neutral shades and classic Scandinavian touches.
5. Let’s Get Leafy
Florals are always popular but this year the look has taken on a more leafy feel. From lush tropical foliage to soft English garden prints, we’re going green in 2019. Suitable for all seasons, these prints take the spring/summer vibe out of florals so they look fresh all year round and if you’re not a fan of busy prints, don’t worry, this trend actively encourages the addition of plants to the home too. Whether the real deal or faux.
6. It’s in the Stars
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so it’s no surprise we have stars in our eyes when it comes to interior design. Ethereal and mesmerising, celestial designs always have a sense of mystery about them. In inky blues or cool purples with bursts of metallics, these designs are winners wherever placed. It’s not just stars we’re seeing either, Zodiac, star men and planetary prints are also having their moment.
7. Beige is Back
8. Mediterranean Marvels
We go on holiday to escape everyday life don’t we? We choose hotels that are that little bit nicer than our own homes, but this year is all about creating a home you don’t need a holiday from. The laidback look of the Mediterranean has hit our homes in full force this year and it brings with it your favourite elements of the popular holiday destination. We chose the look for our second A by Amara trend earlier this season, and Azure is all about that holiday vibe. Sadly the only thing we can’t guarantee is the sun.
9. Art Deco Decadence
Ah, the Roaring Twenties, the ultimate period of decadence and glamour. Or so we believe when we reimagine the era nearly a hundred years later. Whether the ‘20s was really like it’s depicted today is up for debate, but one thing’s for certain – we’re still obsessed with it. From the sumptuous materials like marble and precious metallics, to the dramatic geometric prints and rich shades, and let’s not leave out the Gatsby-like parties too, our love for this look is going nowhere.
Add a Glint of Glamour
10. Say it with Slogans
Slogan’s dominated the catwalks this season and it’s a trend which is shouting just as loudly in the home. Cushions, storage and candles are all getting the slogan treatment and it’s the perfect way to make a statement in any room. Whether you prefer puns, want to get political or just have a bond with a certain word, say it loud and proud through your accessories.
