Sophia & Marie Walk All Over Cancer
For the entirety of March, Digital Projects Coordinator Sophia and SEO Outreach Executive Marie took part in Cancer Research UK’s Walk All Over Cancer. We catch up with Sophia and Marie to see how they got on!
The Walk All Over Cancer campaign involves walking 10,000 steps every day in March, raising money along the way to help fund life-saving research and beat cancer sooner.
In order to raise money, Sophia and Marie held a bake sale at Amara HQ on the 16th March knowing that Team Amara can’t resist a good cake or two!
Let’s see how they got on with the challenge!
Sophia: “I hate to say it but walking 10,000 steps a day is actually really hard- but it shouldn’t be! Overall, I really enjoyed the challenge and want to say thank you again to all those who helped with fundraising. So here it is my final total for march was 311,610 steps which is 155.8 miles! No wonder my feet hurt! Thank you again”
Marie: “The last month has highlighted to me how tricky it is to get 10,000 steps a day in when you drive to and from work, and sit down all day. The walks are such a lovely way to spend your lunchtime! I managed to walk 308,147 steps, about 146 miles. Time for a cuppa tea and a slice of cake!”
With cancer survival rates doubling over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK are consistently working to find new opportunities and different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer to improve survival rates even further.
Sophia and Marie raised a fantastic £201.35 for Cancer Research UK. You can find out more about fundraising for Cancer Research UK on their website.
