Perfect Home Interview: Lucy Gleeson
Dressmaker and Designer Lucy Gleeson has a background in TV and Film but has a huge passion for colour and all things unique. Inspired by 50’s vintage and kitsch Lucy loves vintage style fabrics, fashion, beautiful homeware and artwork encorporating all of these in her own work. With music also being a huge part of her life we couldn’t wait to find out what would be inside her perfect home…
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?:
I would absolutely love to live in New York for a year. I have spent time there, but it’s never enough! I love the energy, people and immediacy. It feels like a film set when you step off the plane and get into a yellow cab!
Name one homeware accessory that you cant live without:
I couldn’t live without my lamps, especially my bespoke shade from Beauvamp. I think ambient lighting is key to a comfortable, homely abode. Especially, when you have guests. Central lights can be a bit harsh and unfriendly.
If you could decorate your home in any trend, what would it be?
I’m really happy with the way my home already looks. Though I’m always fiddling about and adding colours, making blinds and re-arranging pictures!
To you, what makes a home perfect?
Lots and lots of photographs and artwork, new and old. I love the look of minimalist homes but I don’t think that mine would stay like that for long, especially with kids! I would however really like to have a swimming pool, that would make it perfect.
Tell us about the photo of your dream house.
Well, as I love my own home – I chose a picture of my sewing room, because I feel very lucky to have it.
