Amara’s Wing Walkers Complete Their Challenge!

At the end of August Amara’s brave Wing Walkers finally took on their Wing Walk for the J’s Hospice. We take a look at the amazing pictures of the team doing the Wing Walk and catch up with them to see how they got on!

As documented, Harriet, Ollie, Nicola & Tom have been fundraising for their wing walk in aid of the J’s Hospice. The Wing Walkers have been busy arranging afternoon teas and quiz nights in order to fund their challenge. The J’s Hospice charity improves the lives of young adults aged 16-40 with life limiting and life threatening conditions and their families across Essex.

The J’s Hospice provides enhanced care including tailored specialist nursing, respite, advice and emotional care as well as end of life care and bereavement support – in the comfort and security of their own homes. The J’s Hospice aim to help the young adults to live their lives to the fullest, however short this may be.

Amara’s Wing Walkers raised an absolutely incredible £4163.58! A fantastic amount of money that will help the J’s Hospice make a huge difference to the young adults with life-limiting conditions.

After spotting this event in late 2016, Harriet knew that this was something she wanted to be a part of. Harriet told us that this was something which had been on her bucket list for years and after gaining encouragement by her beloved team mates (who were more than happy to pay money to watch Harriet wing walk!) the rest was history! Shortly after Ollie, Nicola & Tom joined forces and Amara’s Wing Walker team were born!

Olly told us:

I was very anxious before my wing walk but once we lifted off all I wanted was for the pilot to do more extreme roller coaster moves. It was such a unique experience.

Nicola filled us in:

Being a bit of an adrenaline junkie I was super excited to be on the wings of the plane… although I was a bit disappointed that legally they weren’t allowed to do ‘loop de loops’!i It was still a fantastic experience to be up there taking in the scenery and then nose diving towards the crowds below watching! Having now done a Skydive and a Wing Walk I am now looking for my next crazy thing to do!
