Renowned for being the first brand in the world to industrially produce looped cotton from which was born the first terry towel in 1850. A year later the towels were displayed in the Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace where a set of the Christy Royal Turkish Towels were gifted to Queen Victoria. Upon noticing their soft feel and high quality, she immediately ordered more, thus greatly increasing the brand’s notoriety.
In 1920 The Christy Mill shop opened for business which launched the brand even further into the spotlight. Key notes in Christy’s heritage were creating the Coronation Towel for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, and becoming the official Wimbledon towel supplier in 1987 an honour they still hold today.
Sold throughout the UK and now the US, Christy have recently celebrated their 160th birthday and they are still going strong as one of the most prestigious and luxurious towelling & bed linen manufacturers in the world.
