We’ve had a sneak peek at some of the stand-out looks from the January show, and found the key trends that will be shaping the look and feel of our homes. 2020, it’s going to be a great year for interiors…
Explorer
Reminiscent of the treasures you pick up on your travels, Explorer gives block prints and handmade accessories the attention they deserve. Favouring artisanal handicrafts over mass-produced perfections, it features a warming colour palette of burnt ochre, rust and tobacco balanced by oatmeal & off white, with touches of teal & turquoise bringing a welcome colour pop. This is luxury, stripped back. A look where humble materials take centre stage; rattan, bamboo, wicker, linen and hand-carved woods. If it makes you feel like you’re exploring a far-flung destination in a sun-soaked corner of the world, you’re on the right track.
Primary Prints
Red, yellow and blue: the classic colour palette of our childhood is growing up in 2020. Maison & Objet was bursting with bold hues and even brighter patterns this January, giving a welcome change to the Scandi-minimalism trend that’s so familiar to us. Eclectic and modern, Primary Prints is a trend that’s hard to ignore. Saturated in colour and featuring bold patterns in abundance, it’s balanced by clean, modern lines across furniture and lets the accessories do the talking. Get the look with a statement sofa in your favourite hue, and layer colour and pattern with cushions & throws. When it comes to Primary Prints, the key is to be unashamedly bold.
Sustainable Aesthetics
Pared back and uncluttered, if there’s one thing we’ve learned at Maison & Objet this year, it’s that clean minimalism is still trending in interiors. Olive green hues and natural materials give this trend back-to-nature vibes, while modern shapes across furniture & accessories, and retro-inspired prints keeps it fresh & young. In a bid to live more consciously, a common theme through Maison & Objet, this look favours natural materials that are sustainably sourced, proving it’s as much about where an item came from as how it looks in your home. A trend that proves less really is more, this year we’re focusing on green living.
