Pip Studio Buyer's Guide

History

Pip Studio’s artistic creator Catharina is universally known as Pip – a nickname she was given at a very early age by her three older brothers. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts, Pip bought a dilapidated Victorian house on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Her favourite feature in this old house was the intense northerly light which illuminated most rooms when it shone, reminding her of the small Dutch seaside village she grew up in. No room glowed more than the attic, this space which was transformed into her artistic workshop which she aptly named ‘Pip Studio’, sparked the beginnings of a unique collection of luxury homeware.

Style Inspirations

Pip gathers endless inspiration from day to day occurrences, which to the majority seem quite ordinary but on closer inspection are in fact stunningly beautiful, one single moment can be the bases for numerous new pieces. For example, after spotting a beautiful rose in bloom on a summer’s day, the image became a reoccurring theme in her designs, whilst a whole collection was imagined from a number of old chests & suitcases discovered when renovating her attic studio. Pip never knows where a new idea will spring from but she retains the same vision throughout her design process. Each piece is created as something Pip herself would like to buy if she could find it, which is usually not the case. On her website she explains her mantra:

“If I make a product, it has to be so good that I would like to keep it myself or if I give it to a friend or member of the family it must bring a little bit of joy and happiness. Without this emotion, it cannot be a true Pip product”.

Pip’s eye for tiny details and unique finishing touches combine perfectly with her bright mix & match pattern style, to create products that are never stand-alone but part of a broader design concept for an entire room. Bold florals, subtle oriental patterns & vintage prints are just a few of the brand’s iconic designs. Each new collection is specifically designed to be displayed together, whilst combining previous Pip Studio prints to generate your own unique look.

At Amara, we are delighted to be able to share Pip products with the world, the vibrant prints never fail to bring a smile to our faces and with such a wide selection, there is something for anyone with a love of beautiful things. The collection spans from loungewear to stationery meaning you can adorn any room with the brand’s vintage inspired designs.

All Pip Studio bed linen is designed to help you relax in the utmost comfort whilst you catch up on beauty sleep. A range of beautiful duvet & pillowcase sets are available, each featuring a signature bold Pip print. All of these sets are ideal for adding pops of colour to any bedroom, however if you are ever in need of a more calming environment, the subtler patterned reverse can easily accomplish this. You will also find complementing fitted sheets to match the reverse of each range, or if you are feeling confident you can fashionably clash patterns to create your own truly unique style. Every Pip Studio bedding item is made from luxuriously soft 100% cotton percale, including the beautifully designed padded bedspreads ideal for layering with duvet covers.

Bathrobes & Towelling

Ideal for snuggling up in after a long soak or just for relaxing around the house, Pip Studio towelling & bathrobes are wonderfully soft and equally as vibrant as the rest of the brand’s soft furnishings. Made from cotton velour, Pip bathrobes are always fabulously vibrant and quickly become clothing you want to show off rather than hide away. Two of the brand’s most popular designs, Birds of Paradise & Flower Medallions are available in both items for you to easily coordination your bathroom style. Pip Studio towels are available in four different sizes (face mitt, guest, hand and bath towels) and are also crafted from cotton velour making them incredibly luxurious to the touch.

Nightwear & Loungewear

Combine your new Pip Studio bathrobe with an array of complementing nightwear & loungewear. Just because you relax in them does not mean they need to be dull, with each item created with Pip’s mantra in mind. Again made from cotton, the pyjama & loungewear fabric is either knitted or woven with indulgent 80-220gsm, perfect for kicking back and taking some much needed me time. The range includes nightdresses, trousers with drawstring waists or fitted ankles, complementing tops with varying sleeve lengths & cardigans to keep you toasty in the winter months. All are ideal for mixing & matching styles and prints depending on your loungewear preferences.

Vintage inspired but eternally cool, Pip Studio is renowned for its quirky porcelain tableware ranges. From sets ideal for sophisticated afternoon tea parties, to full dinnerware ranges which can be used for either everyday dining or special occasions, there is a form of Pip tableware for every requirement. With signature prints such as the intricate Chinese Rose, pastel Early Bird & vintage knitting pattern inspired Ribbon Rose, it is up to whether you create a lively display or a more demure presentation.

Bags

Travel in style with a colourful selection of toiletry & make-up bags, or carry your style with you always with an array of shoulder bags and purses in the iconic bright prints. Other Pip Studio bags include practical yet stylish baby changing bags featuring signature Pip patterns. There is also the beautiful must have stationery collection featuring pretty pencil cases and more, ideal for school, college or the office.
