Lancaster and Gibbings produce a modern range of cast pewter giftware, all handmade in their workshop in Totnes, South Devon. This charming brand has developed over the last twenty years from just a market stall at Greenwich craft market to the expansive collection of handmade pewter ware they have today.
In the early 1990’s, Sarah Gibbings and Jim Lancaster set themselves the task of developing a handmade product that could be designed as well as manufactured in England. Both Jim and Sarah had a background in design, and they were seeking new material that lent itself to detailed artwork as well as having low set-up costs. Working in pewter, they decided to focus on picture frames after experimenting with a range of products.
The evolution of Lancaster and Gibbings tells a story of organic growth, which has led to the creation of a product range of character and integrity. Each picture frame has its own individual personality and the choice of pewter as a material lends a sense of continuity and longevity.
