Created by Marnie Moyle, all of Green Oak’s items are crafted from timber that has not been seasoned. The timber that Green Oak Furniture uses has a high water content from being the tree’s life blood, timber like this is used because in the course of steadily drying out in the atmosphere Marnie can create items that will warp, contort, twist, perhaps even split, ensuring that each piece is individual.
Every part of the process is done by hand and has to be, it is a great testament to hand craftsmanship as Green Oak Furniture timber would ruin machinery and simply isn't conveniently flat enough for it.
All items made from Green Oak Furniture are challenging to work with and need to be crafted with thought and skill. There will be no need for maintenance as the tannin in the oak is a natural preservative and Marnie Moyle’s work is designed to be used, almost abused, to sit with the seasons and to learn to tell tales.
