Waves

Change means movment.

Waves against Ca coast1 I spent my childhood and teen years mostly near or on the Pacific Ocean. For me, there was nothing else as relaxing as watching the waves move against the shore or feel the waves move underneath my family's boat. This image was taken during a drive down the California Coast. Date: December 1999.

Waves against Ca coast2 Waves moving strongly against the rocks. While change means new challenges and growth, change usually also means friction. This is an uncomfortable state of being for many humans. One state-of-mind I practice when change feels particularly uncomfortable is imagining that I am a flexible bamboo tree, bending in the wind: not so brittle as to snap, but resiliant enough to be still in my roots when the wind finishes blowing. This fluid photograph was taken during the same photography session as above. Date: December 1999.
