Marketing Manager Tom Freeman has become a bit of a blog staple this year with all of his amazing charity fundraising and mammoth sporting events. Here is what he had to say of his 4th & final big event of the year…
It has been over a month since I finally finished my year of hell – I think I needed that time to recover! For anyone that has read any of my last 3 posts on the Amara blog, you will know that in the last 10 months I have been raising money for CALM, who bring awareness to and try to prevent suicide in young men. My campaign is finally over!
Five weeks ago I finished my fourth and final event, The Loch Ness Marathon! Now…I had a few problems on the run up to this one, I had hurt my knee a few weeks before, to the extent that I only managed a mile run before the main event, it was VERY painful! I was not overly confident when it came to the marathon, but was prepared to run through the pain for it! I finished the race in 4h 45min – I was very happy with that! I’m afraid I didn’t manage to get a glimpse of Nessie however.
So my year is over – I can’t say I’m too upset, but so far I have raised £2.5k which was well over my target, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to this fantastic amount.
Well done Tom, we think you have earned a long rest!
